|  Meeting of ARSC A 3-day meeting of Agricultural Research Sub Committee (ARSC) of PCCC was held from April 3-5, 2008 at Central Cotton Research Institute, Multan. The agenda of the meeting was the consideration of Annual Summary Progress Report for the year 2007-08 and the approval of Annual Program of Research Work for the year 2008-09.Dr. Qadir Bux Baloch, ADC/Chairman, API (MINFAL), Islamabad presided over the first 2-day meetings. Senator Mian Muhammad Amjad Abbas Qureshi, Chairman, Standing Committee on Food, Agriculture & Livestock of Senate presided over the 3rd day meeting. All Heads of Sections of Central Cotton Research Institutes, Multan & Sakrand presented their research work. In charges of Cotton Research Stations, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Ghotki, Mirpur Khas, D.I. Khan, and the representatives of Federal/Provincial research institutions also presented their research work.The meeting was attended by Directors of Central Cotton Research Institute, Multan and Sakrand, Director Research PCCC, Deputy Chief Scientist NIAB, Secretary KCA, Chief scientist NIAB, Director Cotton Research Institute Faisalabad, Former Director Cotton Research Institute Faisalabad, Heads of Plant, Breeding & Genetics of different universities. The meeting was also largely attended by Agriculture Officers, grower members and representatives of pesticide companies from all over
Cotton Crop Management Group (CCMG) The Cotton Crop Management Group (CCMG) meeting was held at Central Cotton Research Institute, Multan under the chairmanship of Malik Ahmed Ali Olakh, Minister for Agriculture Punjab on May 28, 2008. The meeting was attended by Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Director General Agriculture (Ext.), Director General Agriculture (Research) Director General Pest Warning & Quality Control, Director General, Water Management, Punjab, Director Central Cotton Research Institute Multan, Chief Engineers Irrigation of Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan and Faisalabad Zones, Chief Executive WAPDA, Multan, District Officers of Agriculture (cotton zone), representative of Pesticide Industry, Pesticide dealers and grower members. The issues of Canal Water Supply, Sowing Position of Cotton in the Punjab, Pest Position, Availability of Fertilizer, Seed, and Pesticides during current season were discussed.
Foreign Delegation Visit A 3-member Chinese delegation from M/S A.H. Hi-Tech. Pk. visited the Institute on April 26, 2008.The foreign delegation was consisted of Mr. Lue (Agronomist), Mr. Tao (Breeder), and Mr. Yang (Breeder). Mr. Muhammad Arshad, Director, CCRI, Multan briefed them about the activities of the Institute. Later, the delegation visited the laboratories, glass house and the experimental fields of the Institute. They appreciated the research work being done at CCRI Multan and took keen interest to benefit from it.
Cotton Crop Management Group (CCMG) The Cotton Crop Management Group (CCMG) meeting was held under the chairmanship of Malik Ahmed Ali Olakh, Minister for Agriculture Punjab on July 26, 2008 at Central Cotton Research Institute, Multan. The meeting was attended by Director General Agriculture (Ext.), Director General Agriculture (Research) Director General Pest Warning & Quality Control, Punjab, Director Central Cotton Research Institute Multan, Chief Engineers Irrigation of Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan and Faisalabad Zones, representative of MEPCO, Multan, District Officers of Agriculture (cotton zone), representative of Pesticide Industry, Pesticide dealers and grower members. The issues of Canal Water Supply, Pest Position especially for CLCV and Mealybug, Cotton Crop Position and Availability of Pesticides during current season in the Punjab were discussed.
Visit of Head Technical Information Section ICAC Dr. Muhammad Rafiq Head, Technical Information Section, ICAC Washington DC, USA visited Central Cotton Research Institute, Multan on July 29, 2008.He visited the experimental fields of the Institute. He delivered the lecture on “World, Asian, India and Pakistan Cotton Production and Consumption”. He appreciated the progressive research work conducted by the scientists of CCRI, Multan.
Visit of Parliamentary Secretary Nawab Liaqat Ali Khan, Parliamentary Secretary, visited Central Cotton Research Institute, Multan on August 6, 2008. The Director of the Institute briefed him about the latest research activities in cotton production technology. Later, he visited different laboratories of the Institute. He appreciated the progressive research work conducted by the scientists of CCRI, Multan.
